The Friesian horse is a majestic and ancient breed originating from Friesland in the Netherlands. Known for their striking black coats, long flowing manes, and feathered legs, Friesians are a sight to behold. They are powerful yet elegant, with a high-stepping trot that makes them popular in dressage and show rings2.
Historically, Friesians were used as warhorses during the Middle Ages, carrying knights into battle. Today, they are cherished for their versatility, excelling in riding, driving, and even in movies due to their dramatic appearance3.
Friesians are generally gentle and docile, making them suitable for riders of all levels. They typically stand between 15 to 17 hands tall and are almost exclusively black, with very few exceptions.
