 Sulphur‑Crested Cockatoo
A sulphur‑crested cockatoo is the very picture of cheeky Australian charm. Its body is cloaked in crisp, snowy white feathers that catch the light like soft satin, giving it a clean, sculptural silhouette. The star of the show is its brilliant sulphur-yellow crest—five to seven long, curved plumes that fan upward in a dramatic arc whenever the bird is excited, curious, or feeling particularly opinionated.
Its beak is a deep charcoal grey, strong and slightly hooked, perfect for cracking seeds or investigating anything that looks remotely interesting. Dark, intelligent eyes sit forward on the face, giving the cockatoo an expressive, almost mischievous personality.
The wings and tail are broad and elegant, with the faintest wash of lemon-yellow hidden beneath the feathers—visible only when the bird stretches or takes flight. Its feet are textured and slate-grey, with zygodactyl toes (two forward, two back) that give it a confident, slightly bossy stance on branches, perches, or—if it gets its way—your shoulder.
Overall, the sulphur‑crested cockatoo radiates energy, intelligence, and a touch of theatrical flair. It’s a bird that never merely exists in a scene—it announces itself
